Harold Stover is our Music Director and Choirmaster.
He is a native of Latrobe, PA, and is a graduate of the Julliard School in New York City. Although retired from full time church music career, he presently directs the chorus Renaissance Voices in Portland and serves on the faculty of the Portland Conservatory of Music.
He was the City of Portland, ME's 10th municipal organist from 1990 until 2007. Soprano Jennifer has a wide list of accomplishments. Among these are soloist in Weely Bach Vespers, Holy Trinity Lutheran, NYC, and Bristol Music Festival (UK). SUNY, Stony Brook DMA candidate current, Aspen Fellowship Recipient, Ravinia Festival, Steans Scholar, Boston Conservatory, and Manhatten School of Music.
Bruce, bass, graduated from Westminister Choir College in Princeton, NJ, as a Music Education major with a principle in voice. He taught elementary school music at St. Patrick's Catholic School in Portland, ME. He joined St. Mary's Schola in 2012.
Joanne, soprano, continues to be an active member of the Portland-based a cappella choir Renaissance Voices since joining in 2007. She has contributed to the Cathedral Choir ministry and served as an occasional cantor at the Episcopal Cathedral Church of Saint Luke in Portland for several years. Previous ensemble work includes the Choir at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation (Baltimore, MD), Singers and Masterworks choruses of Portland’s Choral Art Society, jazz ensemble Maineblend, Baltimore Symphony Chorus, the Johns Hopkins Chorus, and the Peabody Chorus (Baltimore, MD). Alto Stella is the daughter of Fr. Todd FitzGerald. She is an opera and voice performance major at Boston University in her second year.

She has appeared as a guest artist with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and sang the role of Mother Jeanne in the PSO’s presentation of Poulenc’s opera, Dialogues of the Carmelites. Portland-based Jenna ranges from alto to mezzo-soprano. She studied classical voice at USM. She performs locally with Oratorio Chorale, St. Mary Schola, and local theater productions. Jenna also directs choirs at Greely Middle School.
Rachel is a soprano and raised in a musical family in Yorkshrie, England. Undergraduate music major in York in the UK. Shifted her focus on music therapy. Joined her husband in Philadelphia where she explored Music Therapy. Moved to Maine 2002 and besides raising a family Rachel is a member of Renaissance Voices and Choral Arts Society. She is in St. Mary Schola since 2012.
Tenor Martin has been featured as a soloist with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Maine Music Society, and many others. He has performed with ensembles such as the Schola of St. Mary’s Cathedral and Portland Opera Repertory Theater. He is presently a member of the Cathedral Choir of St. Luke’s Episcopal Cathedral in Portland,

Ben, bass to tenor, sings with the Choral Art Society and Renaissance Voices. He has been a high school choral director from 2013-2021, and has recently moved to the Portland area in Maine. He enjoys teaching vocal lessons, playing piano and trombone, audio and video engineering, and is currently learning how to play the Irish tin whistle. Ben is also a member of St. Mary’s Schola.
David, bass, joined the Department of Music at Boise State University in 1996, teaching horn and music theory. He earned his D.M.A. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a master’s degree from the Yale University School of Music, and a bachelor’s degree from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. He earned his D.M.A. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a master’s degree from the Yale University School of Music, and a bachelor’s degree from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. Dr. Saunders is a frequent guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, and was the long-time conductor of the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony. He is a member of the College Music Society and the West Coast Conference of Music Theory and Analysis, among others.

This special 125th anniversary event was held on July 10, 2022 at 4 pm in the church. Organist and Director of Music Harold Stover conducted the Choir of St. Peter’s as written for services of the Church of England and its affiliates in works from the 16th century England up to the 20th century. Composers featured on the program include Thomas Tallis, Henry Purcell, and William Henry Harris, along with several others. The concert will conclude with a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Held September 18, 2022 at 4 pm, Ray Cornils performed a complimentary organ concert to honor our 125th Anniversary. His program featured light-hearted music including works by Denis Bedard, Porter Heaps, John Weaver, and Hermann Kotzschmar. Known for his highly diverse programming, Ray has concertized throughout the United States, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, New Zealand, and Ecuador.
