In the 1800s
1890 - Cragmere, home of the Conarroe family, is completed.
1896 - George Meecum Conarroe dies.
1897 - Nannie Dunlap Conarroe, widow of George, makes a bequest for the building of the Episcopal church and Ogunquit Memorial Library. The church is sitted at top of Christian Hill so that its cross will be visible to fisherman at sea. Both the Church and Library were designed by Charles C. Burns and built by Edward Blaisdell of York, Maine
1900s brings changes
1900 - Bonnie Brae is built on site adjacent to church.
1908 - It becomes the summer residence (rectory) of Rev. John Fearnley and wife.
1917 - Nanne D. Connaroe dies, leaving the Church, Bonnie Brae, Chadwick House and the Arnold House to a Board of Trustees.
1927- St. Peter's by the Sea is officially incorporated by the Maine Legislature.
1958 - The south window, depicting the breaking of bread at Emmaus, was given in memory of Constance Emily Booker. The window is designed by Connick Brothers of Boston.
1966 - A huge water storage tower is built directly behind the church by the York Water Commission obsecuring the view of the cross from the sea!
1968 - The water tower is removed by the District thanks to the persistence of Florence Perkins and other members.
The Baldwin church organ is purchased by the church.
Modern years
1985 - A new large Allen organ is donated by the Peterson family.
1986 - A parcel of land, originally part of the Chadwick house is purchased from the Villinski family.
A Baptistery Window, depicting the Baptism of Christ by St. John is given in memory of Robert & Regina Dale.
1988- The first St. Peter's Candlelight Concert is held.
1990 - Richard Grant becomes organist
1992 - Bonnie Brae is renamed Marmion House in honor of Marmion's long and devoted service.
2000 - Henry L. Hokans is appointed music director and organist.
2007 - The Board of Trustees authorizes the creation of Memorial Garden to serve the spiritual needs by providing a sacred place for the burial of cremains in tranquil forest setting.
2019 - a massive fundraising effort is made as the church tower and west wall are completely renovated and restored.
